A day at the MARKET!

Today as it was a holiday for me, I and my grandfather set out to the market to buy some vegetables. It was very exciting to be going to the market and see a lot of people trying their best to sell their stuff.
It’s long since I have been to the market .When we got out of the car, I saw how it was crowded with people. I was half afraid whether I would get lost because the market was very much crowded.  There was also an unpleasant smell. I was thinking of the people, who own shop in the market, they will have to bear the smell through out the day.
Observing the market was fun anyway. The shop keepers were shouting at high voices ‘Tomatoes, Cheap tomatoes’ My grand father held my hand to make sure that I was with him and we went to a shop were the shop keeper was smiling seeing my grandpa making me convinced that it was grandpa’s  usual  purchasing shop. That shop keeper knew what grandpa wanted without even grandpa telling him. My grandfather was busy with the shop keeper that I had a good look at the other shops .I couldn’t see much through so much of people. It was all and well crowded with people. People were entering the market and lots of them were going out of it as well, their hands full with packets of something or the other. Lots and lots of sacks of vegetables were being piled up in shops .The vegetables were getting over in fraction of seconds.  Shopkeepers were shouting and using a lot of techniques so that their customers would buy something from their shop.
I realized one thing that is the shopkeepers had a though time in the market and in selling their items. They earned their bread with a lot of pain and hard work and that made me promise myself that I would always work hard and believe in the proverb “work is worship”

My New Year Resolutions

As the New Year has begun I decided to take a few resolutions.
1)    My first resolution is to write my diary regularly
I used to write my diary when I was about 8 years old. Recently I found that diary.  When I reading the things that I had written, I was laughing till I cried. When I read those incidents with my friends, the silly things that I thought that was very important now seem very funny to me. As I found the pleasure of reading  my old diaries I decided to write my diary this year and enjoy reading it later.
2)    I decided to do all my works with my full heart with satisfaction and pleasure
I always thought that I do certain works ,finding it as a burden. Today in my Sunday class our teacher preached a lot about finding pleasure in all our works. That provoked me of taking this resolution.

3)    My third resolution was to help my parents in their work
I realized that helping our parents is the most important. All the work they do is for us. So it is always important to give them the respect for what they do for us. As the beginning task today I helped my mother with the cooking. I prepared a special dish called the Chettinad Chicken.

I think, I have made a good set of resolutions for this year.
What are your resolutions? I have read in a few other blogs about other good resolutions such as exercising which is good for health. I thought about taking that as a resolution but later decided not to because I am already thin and my mother asks me to put on weight, in that case if I exercise I will surely become a skeleton.
Have a Good Day.

Wishing you all a very Happy And Blessed 2011

My Unforgettable Pet

As it is our winter holidays I and my sister where spending a few days in my mother’s house. My mother’s house is  in a village where you can see acres of plain land for long distances. There it was far too cold rather than in my house in Kochi. As Kochi is the business hub of Kerala you could only see flats wherever you look. There by the temperatures at my mother’s house was quite low because of which I needed three blankets to cover me up while I was sleeping.
The main attraction of going to my mother’s house was the dog there. He was a German shepherd named Bruno. He was our dearest. We used to play with him, go for walks with him and he played a crucial role in whatever we did.
On the day of our arrival, we saw a puppy in our court yard. We were quite surprised. When we asked grandpa who that pup belonged to, we got a most surprising answer that was the pup belonged to our own house. This surprised us and we asked our grandpa “Why do we need another dog while we have got Bruno” At this question our grandpa replied quite sorrowfully that Bruno had died a week ago due to age. Hearing this my heart stopped beating for sometime. Tears filled my sister’s eyes so as mine. I looked at the Kennel where Bruno used to be. It was all empty. To cheer us up grandpa said “That’s why I had bought this puppy. I don’t know what breed it is, yesterday one of the villagers sold it to me. I am sure you will take good care of it.” Those words dried our eyes. I had a good look at the new puppy. It starred into my eyes. That touched my heart. My sister took the pup in her arms and started playing with it. We felt much better.
The puppy was so young so it could only drink milk. So from time to time we enjoyed giving it milk. We were thinking of a good name for the puppy but we concluded in none.  It would be nice if you could suggest a few nice names. In the evening we would sent it out in the courtyard and we used to play small games with it. Though both my sister and I enjoyed playing and taking care of the puppy, we truly missed Bruno.

What about blogging!

Hai! I am a young new blogger. I don’t have a very good idea about what blogging is at present but am sure to know better about it in a few days time. My name is Elen and I live in India, Kerala. I thought that it would be nice if I could post my day to day experiences with a few other bloggers. I always loved writing something or the other. In fact when I grow up, I would like to write books. So as to begin with, I thought I would pen down something on my blog on all weekends and the holidays I get. I think it will be fun to read the fun and frolic happening in others lives. So I thought I will also join blogging.
As this is my Christmas holidays, I am free from the burden of studying. I think it would be nice to sow the seeds of blogging right now so that I will have the spirit of blogging even in my school days.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with Christmas tress and stars, cakes and candies and in fact the most important, blessings from God!
